Reptile wipes are the first wet wipes created to be used directly on a reptile’s skin. This patent pending process helps clean dirt, while providing a touch of moisture to aid in the shedding process.
Reptile wipes were developed because I saw the need for something that could quickly clean off a reptile without lugging around a roll of paper towels at shows and educational events. These wipes are great for showing reptiles on short notice if you don’t have time to give them a bath before their public appearance. They are also great for reptile rescues who often receive animals that are not in the best health and need a gentle wash.
In my quest to find the perfect ingredients for my wipes, I learned that most wet wipe ingredients are fairly toxic and could not be used on small delicate animals such as reptiles. Harsh fragrances, alcohol and chemicals that can cause serious damage to even our own skin.
Reptile Wipes are made with minimal ingredients including aloe vera, coconut oil, jojoba oil, purified water, maltodextrin (food grade ingredient derived from starch), sodium benzoate (a sodium salt used as a food preservative), polyaminopropyl biguanide (a gentle fungicide & disinfectant), coco-glucoside (derived from coconut oil), vitamin E, glycerine (a simple sugar alcohol) and polysorbate 20 (food grade surfactant). Reptile wipes have no added perfumes only a light coconut scent from the natural oil in the product.
It is important to remember that these wipes are meant to clean a reptile’s skin and are not a substitute for adequate water and hydration. Reptile wipes do not provide disinfection or protection against bacteria such as salmonella. It is always best practice to wash your hands after handing any reptile.
